Color Our World -- Discover Summer Reading Program at Seymour Library

So far, over 200 children have registered for the library’s summer reading program, Discover Summer: Color Our World! Families have joined us for storytimes, crafts, STEAM book club, and visits with special guests- including the Auburn Fire Department and Jeff the Magic Man! Don’t worry if you haven’t had a chance to register yet. Visit the Family Space to get your first BRAG TAG® and chain. Collect a different tag at each of our summer programs. Register for our adult/teen summer reading program and participate in our book bingo challenge, get creative at one of our hands-on art programs, or check out a library book club. Color your world this summer at Seymour Library!

Book Bingo is back!
Register for our adult summer reading program and receive a folder with a Summer Reading Guide to new releases, a Discover Summer Reading Bingo card, plus a few extras inside. Complete your Bingo card (five in a row) for a chance to win a prize. Bingo cards should be returned by September 20. Teens are welcome to participate!

Nature DIY
Make art inspired by nature using different techniques and materials!

Dot & String Art!
Thursday, July 24 at 2 pm
Receive step-by-step instructions on how to make flower art using string, paint, & cotton swabs!

Paper Cactus Craft!
Thursday, August 14 at 2 pm
Make a variety of paper cacti and succulents during this fun paper-folding craft!

Crochet & Knit
Every Tuesday at 2 pm
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon of crocheting and knitting at Seymour Library every Tuesday at 2 pm. Bring your current projects, receive useful tips, and chat with friends.

Paint & Sketch
Thursday, August 7 & 21 at 2 pm
Join other artists for an afternoon of painting and sketching at the library. Bring your current project or start a new creation! Supplies will be provided.

Designed just for Teens!
The library’s Teen DIY program is a time for teens to get creative and connect with fellow artists and crafters!

Teen DIY: Dried Flower Art
Wednesday, August 6 from 4 to 5:30 pm

Music in the Stacks is back in August!

The Skaneateles Festival, in collaboration with Seymour, are proud to present an evening with Australian guitar duo, Ziggy and Miles, on Thursday, August 7 at 6 pm.

With over 50 awards between them in guitar competitions and local music Eisteddfods across their home city of Melbourne, Ziggy and Miles proved their artistry as soloists and a duo from a young age. Graduates of The Juilliard School, Ziggy and Miles were the first Australians and first guitar duo accepted into the school’s prestigious Artist Diploma program, where they also received the Norman Benzaquen Career Advancement Grant. Ziggy and Miles are the Skaneateles Festival’s Emerging Artist in Residence.

No registration is required for this free concert! Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Seymour Library. For more information about Ziggy and Miles.

Planning to read more this summer?! Seymour Library offers 5 monthly book clubs for adults.

Coffee and Crime: Find out WHODUNIT on Tuesday, August 12 at 12 pm. Participants can pick any book from the Penny Brannigan mysteries series by Elizabeth Duncan to read and discuss.

Tea and Tales: Love historical fiction? Travel through time on Tuesday, August 19, at 12 pm. Featured Book: Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Coffee and Conversation: Read a little bit of everything! Join the conversation on Thursday, August 28, at 10:30 am. Featured Book: After Pearl by Stephen Eoannou.

Read More: Accept the challenge! This book club picks categories in support of the library’s reading challenge. Join us on Wednesday, August 27, at 7 pm. August’s featured categories: “A Book Set at the Beach” or “A Book with Stars on the Cover.”

Healing & Hardcovers: Practice some self-care! This book club focuses on a variety of mental health-related topics and is facilitated by a licensed clinical social worker from East Hill Medical Center. Join us on Monday, August 25, at 6 pm. Featured Book: Emotional Inheritance by Galit Atlas
