Color Our World - 2025 Discover Summer Reading Program

Calling all explorers! Discover Summer at Seymour Library, June 28 through August 9, and join us for an art-themed adventure filled with storytimes, STEAM programs, book to movie clubs, and more. All you need is your imagination and curiosity! 

The fun starts with our Color Our World Kick-off on Saturday, June 28 at 11 am! Activities include Discover Summer registration, face painting, sidewalk chalk, storytime sessions (11 am & 12 pm), crafts, and more! 

New this year: BRAG TAGS®!

Brag Tags -- Discover Summer at Seymour Library

When you register your child for Discover Summer, they will receive their first BRAG TAG® and chain. Collect a different tag at each of our summer programs designed for children and families. Check out our Discover Summer Brochure for all the different BRAG TAGS® you can collect this summer. 

Summer programs will be held on the library’s front lawn. If there is rain, the fun will be moved into the library! Some programs may be canceled due to high temperatures, please stay updated by following us on social media (www.facebook.com/SeymourLibrary). 

Little Wigglers at Discover Summer

Don’t forget to check out our Discover Summer programs for teens and adults! Participate in our summer Book Bingo, enjoy a special performance by Australian guitar duo, Ziggy and Miles, and get crafty at one of our DIY programs. StoryWalk®

Enjoy the library’s StoryWalkⓇ at three locations- Hoopes Park, 100 S. Herman Ave., Owasco Playground, 6 Bristol Ave, and Casey Park, 150 N Division St. New books will be added through August!

Join us for a special StoryWalk® kick-off event at Hoopes Park, 100 S. Herman Ave., with the Cayuga County Health Department on Sunday, June 29 at 10 am.

Ride and Read

Enjoy the StoryWalk® while learning the basics of bicycle and wheelsport safety through a fun and interactive safety course. Children will receive tips on bike safety, complete a bike safety course led by Joe Mushock, Cayuga County Health Department’s Injury Prevention Coordinator, and receive a copy of the featured StoryWalk® book: Bike On, Bear! by Cynthea Liu. One book per family, while supplies last. Children should bring their own wheels, and helmets are required. Don’t have a helmet? Free helmets will be available for children in need, while supplies last. No registration required. 


IMAGINE Storytime
Mondays at 10 am & 1 pm
(Starting June 30 through August 4)

Discover Summer Imagine Storytime 2025

Families will engage in stories, songs, and movement together during this fun and interactive storytime focused on art and imagination. Participants will receive a copy of the featured storytime read-along book. Available while supplies last. 

Then stay after storytime for our IMAGINE Craft Corner- featuring different activities each week! For ages 2 to 5, but all ages are welcome. No registration is required. 


Little Wigglers Tuesdays at 10 am (Starting July 1 through August 5)

Discover Summer Little Wigglers

Shake those wiggles out during this storytime designed for toddlers and their families. Explore stories, songs, and movement together!


STEAM Book Club
Tuesdays at 5:30 pm
(Starting July 1 through August 5)

Discover Summer Book Club

Explore magical animals, science, mystery, and adventure through the popular series, Zoey and Sassafras by Asia Citro. Each week, we will focus on one of the books from the series by reading a section of the book together, followed by some fun hands-on STEAM activities! For ages 8 to 12, but all ages welcome. No registration required.


Books & Babies
Wednesdays at 10 am
(Starting July 2 through August 6)

A lap-sit storytime for newborns (0 to 18 months) and their caregivers. This special storytime focuses on encouraging early literacy skills through books, songs, movement, and discovery.


Book to Movie Club

BOOK TO MOVIE CLUB

Book to Movie Club is back! Families will receive a copy of the featured book to read together at home. Then join us at Seymour Library for a screening of the film and book discussion. For ages 8 to 12, but all ages welcome. Please register in the Family Space or by calling 315-252-2571.

Come explore the joy of unplugged, screen-free fun with your family and community!

Join us for a fun-filled Family Game Night featuring award-winning games from the children’s toy company HABA! Perfect for ages 2 and up, this special evening will include hands-on demos and family game time play with some of HABA’s most popular titles, led by a HABA team member. No registration required.

Every other Saturday at 11 am

Storytime Explorers Discover Summer TV

Calling all EXPLORERS! Bring your curiosity and join us for a special storytime led by local community guests! Community guests include the Auburn Fire Department (July 12), the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department (July 26), and the Harriet Tubman National Historical Park (August 9). For ages 6 to 11, but all ages welcome. No registration required.
