Latest Updates

Latest updates at Seymour Library -- new improvements to our

Construction is almost done at Seymour Library, and the results are worth the wait!

We want to thank everyone for their patience over these past few months. The work touched several key spaces throughout the building, and we think you’ll notice the difference right away.

The fiction room got a full overhaul, with new LED fixtures and accent lights installed within the skylights. What was once a dim space is now a bright, welcoming reading room. Come browse the stacks or settle in with a book and see for yourself.

The DVD room and Large Type Room received the same treatment, and both spaces are equally improved.

Our walls got some attention, too. A painting crew spent a month carefully scraping, resurfacing, and repainting, and afterward, new carpeting was installed.

Looking ahead, we will have two private study rooms available, and the upstairs will feature a new staff meeting space. We are so proud of this building and the community it serves. We hope you’ll stop in soon and see it for yourself.

Past Updates

Another Construction Milestone! We’re making progress, and this one you’ll be able to feel underfoot!

While the crew works their magic (removing the old carpet and laying the new), our Fiction Room will be temporarily closed. We’re hoping everything will be wrapped up by Tuesday, June 1.

Brand-new lighting has been installed in our DVD & Large Type Rooms, and the difference is night and day. Whether you’re browsing your next favorite film or searching for a large print title, you’ll notice the upgrade the moment you walk in.

We will continue to update our website and social media with the latest on our construction project. Please follow us on Facebook for the latest news!

What’s Happening

Upper Level: Our second floor is being redesigned to add a meeting room. The nonfiction section has been condensed and moved to make room for these updates.

Throughout the Library: We’re brightening up spaces with new lighting in the fireplace room, DVD room, and historic areas of the building. We’re also converting the North Lobby closet into a small study room and updating our current study room. Part of the construction project includes repairing and painting the walls and ceiling in our historic space!
