Congratulations to the winners of our 2025 Nature in Verse Poetry Contest! This year, poets were asked to submit a haiku or short poem inspired by one of the four nature sites in Cayuga County: Cayuga Community College Nature Trail, Emerson Park/Owasco Lake, Hoopes Park, and Montezuma Wildlife Refuge.

Poems were judged in three categories: CHILDREN (1st through 7th grade), TEEN (8th through 12th grade), and ADULT (19+).

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2025 Nature in Verse Poetry Contest! This project was a collaboration between Seymour Library, The Friends of Seymour Library, and The Resting Soul. 

Please join us at Seymour Library on Thursday, April 24, at 6 pm for a reading of the winning poems, followed by a Poetry Open Mic Night!
