Whether you are looking for some family fun, activities to keep the kids entertained during school breaks, or to practice a little self-care among the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, Seymour Library has you covered with a variety of programs designed for all ages! 

Here is your guide to November and December at the library.

Fun in the Family Space: Dinosaurs, DIY, STEAM, and the Winter Spectacular!

Dinosaurs have taken over the Family Space this November! Celebrate DINO-vember with a DINOmite scavenger hunt, storytimes, a LEGO building challenge, and a Tea-Rex Tea Party. No registration is required for these free programs.

Become a DINO-Detective and find all or our prehistoric friends hiding in the Family Space. Winners will receive a prize!


IMAGINE Storytime — Monday, November 11 and 18 at 11 am

Families will engage in stories, songs, and movement together during this fun and interactive storytime at Seymour Library! This month’s themes include: Dinosaurs at the Library and Dinosaur Families. Designed for ages 2 to 5, but all ages are welcome.


Family Fun Night: T-Rex Tea Party
Friday, November 15 from 4 to 6 pm

Celebrate DINO-vember with a T-Rex Tea Party! Enjoy a short dinosaur storytime, dinosaur-themed crafts and interactive games! Tea and snacks will be served.



LEGO Club: Dinosaur Building Challenge!
Monday, November 18 at 4 pm

Explore your creativity with LEGO challenges and games during the library’s LEGO Club! Accept our Dinosaur Building Challenge and design your own creation from your imagination! The library will provide all the LEGO bricks. Designed for ages 6 and up, but all ages are welcome.

School’s out, but there is educational fun to be had at the library! Drop in and explore all things STEAM!  STEAM stations will be set up in the Family Space and will include Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math activities.

Are the kiddos getting restless? Create some winter-themed crafts with us! Craft activities will be set up in the Family Space while supplies last.


Join us at the library for our last Family Fun Night of 2024! Celebrate the season at Seymour Library during our Winter Spectacular. 

The Winter Spectacular!
Friday, December 13 from 4 to 6 pm

Winter is here! Enjoy a storytime and craft at 4 pm followed by a winter-themed magic show with Jeff the Magic Man at 5 pm. Participants will learn some balloon-twisting skills and make a snowflake and snowman to take home.

Community Read & Discussion:
The Auburn Conference by Tom Piazza
Thursday, November 21 at 6 pm

The Auburn Conference by Tom Piazza Community Read

Join us for a discussion of our fall community read, The Auburn Conference by Tom Piazza. Imagine late 19th century literary greats coming together in Auburn NY for a public discussion on the future of the nation, covering topics of race, class, gender, and the fate of the democratic ideal. Howard Nelson, poet & professor at Cayuga Community College, will facilitate the discussion. Books are available to borrow at Seymour Library. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Seymour Library. 


Music in the Stacks: Merry Mischief
Thursday, December 5 at 6 pm

Music in the Stacks

Enjoy an evening of music at Seymour Library with Merlyn Fuller of Merry Mischief. Take a musical adventure with seafaring songs, shanties, and tales of the high seas with this “theatrical musician” as she navigates music from river to sea! No life preservers needed. Refreshments provided by the Friends of Seymour Library. 


Holiday DIY
Saturday, December 14 at 11 am, 1 pm, & 3 pm

Holiday DIY

Get your DIY on this holiday season at Seymour Library! Register for one of the library’s three Holiday DIY sessions designed for adults and teens on Saturday, December 14 at 11 am, 1 pm, or 3 pm. Participants will make three crafts- a cutting board decorative snowman, a snow globe, and a winter-themed ornament. Each session will feature the same three crafts. All materials will be provided. Please only register for one session. To register, call the library at 315-252-2571.


Upcoming Closed Days

While planning your visit to Seymour Library, please keep in mind that the library will close at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 27, and will remain closed for the holiday through Friday, November 29.

The library will be closed Monday, December 23 through Wednesday, December 25, and will close at 2 pm on Tuesday, December 31, and remain closed through Wednesday, January 1st.
