Here is your day-by-day breakdown of 2024 Spring Break in the Family Space. No registration is required for these free programs!
Monday, April 22:
All Day Drop-in Activity: Earth Day
Celebrate Earth Day in the Family Space with a handprint cactus craft. This silly little succulent just needs your imagination to help it grow!
11 am: IMAGINE Storytime
Families will engage in stories, songs, and movement together during this fun and interactive storytime celebrating Earth Day! Enjoy stories about our planet and make an Earth Day party hat. For ages 2 to 5, but all ages are welcome.
4 pm: LEGO Club: Earth Day Animal Crossings Challenge
Explore your creativity with LEGO challenges and games during the library’s LEGO Club! Accept our Earth Day Animal Crossings Challenge and build bridges to help animals travel safely over busy highways. The library will provide all the LEGO bricks. Designed for ages 6 and up, but all ages are welcome.
Tuesday, April 23:
All Day Drop-in Activity: Puppet Pals!
Cats v.s. Dogs! Will you choose to design a furry feline friend or playful puppy pal puppet?!
11 am: Little Wigglers
Shake those wiggles out during this storytime designed for toddlers and their families. Explore stories, songs, and movement together!
4 pm: Paws to Read Storytime
Join us for a special pet-themed storytime with our friends from the SPCA. Families will learn about the local SPCA, pet rescue, and adoption with Tom Adessa, Humane Law Enforcement Officer for Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY. After storytime, decorate a card for our furry friends at the SPCA! Designed for ages 6 and up, but all ages welcome.
Wednesday, April 24:
All Day Drop-in Activity: Spring Gnomes
Create a spring gnome using your handprint, a pom-pom, paper, and your imagination!
11 am: Books & Babies
Bring your little ones to this lap-sit storytime for newborns (0 to 18 months). This special storytime focuses on encouraging early literacy skills through books, songs, movement, and discovery.
4 pm: Pokémon Club
Meet fellow Pokémon trainers while discovering all things Pokémon! Each month we will complete different Pokémon activities. Bring your own Pokémon Trading Cards, or borrow some from the library. For ages 7 and up, but all ages are welcome!
Thursday, April 25:
All Day Drop-in Activity: Spring Flower & Bird Crafts
Spring is here! Use supplies from the Family Space to make popsicle stick flowers and a bird friend.
Friday, April 26:
All Day Drop-in Activity: Mosaic Art
Use a selection of colored paper scraps to decorate spring-themed shapes! Choose from a rainbow, flower, butterfly, or umbrella. We can’t wait to see what you design!
Saturday, April 27:
11 am: Storytime Crafters: Caterpillar Grass Buddies
Celebrate Earth Month and spring with a Caterpillar Grass Buddy craft and storytime. Plant a grass buddy. As it grows, give it a haircut and watch it grow again. All ages welcome!
1 pm: Teen Crafternoon
Celebrate Earth Month and spring by decorating a clay pot and creating a paper cactus.
Designed for ages 12 and up.
Family Fun at Home
For some family fun at home, check out the library’s game collections, which include favorites like Connect 4, Jenga, Candy Land, and Don’t Break the Ice. All these games and more can be checked out to any cardholder in the Finger Lakes Library System.
Plan a movie night using one of the library’s streaming services! Both Kanopy and Hoopla offer a selection of family-friendly films, plus fun storytime read-aloud videos. Watch and listen as your favorite storybooks come to life. Explore Kanopy, Hoopla, and more digital platforms at https://seymourlibrary.org/elibrary.

Or check out one of the library’s Learning Backpacks for some at-home hands-on exploration! Each backpack contains books and activities centered around a different theme. Be the first to borrow one of our new Learning Backpacks featuring pets, colors, construction, the five senses, and American Sign Language.
