Escape the chilly Upstate New York weather and join us at Seymour Library for some family fun! This February in the Family Space the library will offer a variety of hands-on programs designed for little learners and their families, including storytimes, STEAM, LEGO Club, and drop-in winter break activities.

Don’t forget to check out the library’s February scavenger hunt! Find all of the Love Monsters hiding in the Family Space and win a prize. Remember to look high and low!

Family Fun Night!

Mark your calendars for the library’s Family Fun Night on Friday, February 14 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm! Join us for a special indoor library camp-IN!  We will read not-so-scary stories around the “campfire”, make a campfire craft and enjoy a special s’mores treat! Allergies will be considered and the library will provide allergen-free alternatives. Pajamas are welcomed and encouraged! No registration is required for this free program.

Looking for a storytime? The library offers several weekly storytimes designed to promote early childhood literacy and engage readers of all ages. This month’s special storytimes include a book giveaway with the Friends of Seymour Library and a visit with Trevor the library dog! All storytimes are drop-in, so you don’t need to register.

Saturday, February 1 at 11 am

Celebrate “Take Your Child to the Library Day” with the Friends of Seymour Library during this special storytime! Listen to library-themed stories, enjoy yummy treats, and color a bookmark! Families will receive a copy of Lola at the Library by Anna McQuinn- a special gift from the Friends. Designed for ages 2 to 5, but all ages are welcome.


Tales with Trevor

Wednesday, February 5 at 4 pm

Join us at this doggy storytime with a special guest, Trevor the library dog! Trevor is a patient and friendly dog who loves to be pet and enjoys a good story. Trevor loves for kids to read to him! Bring a favorite book from home or borrow a library book and practice reading aloud to Trevor. 

IMAGINE Storytime

Monday, February 3, 10, & 24 at 11 am 

Families will engage in stories, songs, and movement together during this fun and interactive storytime! This month’s themes include: Tooth Tales, Hugs & Kisses and Penguin Pals! Designed for ages 2 to 5, but all ages are welcome.

Little Wigglers

Tuesday, February 4, 11, & 25 at 11 am 

Shake those wiggles out during this storytime designed for toddlers and their families. Explore stories, songs, and movement together!

Books & Babies

Wednesday, February 5, 12, & 26 at 11 am 

Bring your little ones to this lap-sit storytime for newborns (0 to 18 months) and their caregivers. This storytime focuses on encouraging early literacy skills through books, songs, movement and discovery.

For older children, ages 6 to 12, the library has a variety of hands-on programs, from Saturday STEAM to LEGO Club and Financial Literacy for Homeschooling Families. Learn together at Seymour Library!

Saturday, February 8 at 11 am 

Explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and/or Math at this monthly program. This month, participants will design a snowperson using craft materials, then create an exciting “eruption” using common household items!

LEGO Club: History Building Challenge

Monday, February 10 at 4 pm

Explore your creativity with LEGO challenges and games during the library’s LEGO Club! Accept our History Building Challenge and design your own creation from your imagination! The library will provide all the LEGO bricks.

Financial Literacy for Homeschooling Families

Thinking Money for Kids is an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation. This six-part series teaches children and their parents, caregivers and educators about financial topics — like saving, spending, sharing and budgeting — in a way that is both meaningful and fun!

Build Day

Monday, February 17 from 10 am to 2 pm

Calling all future engineers! Join us for a day of building at the library! You will be able to choose from LEGO bricks, LEGO DUPLO building bricks, KEVA Planks, Wooden blocks and more! 

Craft Day

Tuesday, February 18 from 10 am to 2 pm

Choose from a variety of creative activities including painting, collaging and crafting. Bring your creativity and imagination! 

Pokémon Day

Wednesday, February 19 from 10 am to 2 pm

Meet fellow Pokémon trainers while discovering all things Pokémon! Complete different Pokémon activities during this special drop-in event. Bring your own Pokémon Trading Cards, or borrow some from the library. Designed for ages 7 and up, but all ages are welcome!
